Cost Per Sale, Not Cost Per Lead: The One Number To Read Every Day
Cost per lead tells you what a form fill cost. Cost per sale tells you what a customer cost. One real month shows the gap between them.

You pay once to get the lead, and again to replace it when nobody calls back. Here is where the gap opens and how to close it.
A lead that waits until Monday costs you twice. You paid the ad platform to get it on Friday. Then you pay again for a new lead to fill the gap, because the first one went to a business that replied sooner. The fix is not more leads. It is a reply in minutes.
Someone fills out your form at 9:47 on a Friday night. They are on the sofa with a phone in their hand, and yours is not the only form they fill in. They do two more before bed.
One of those companies replies before breakfast. Your office calls on Monday morning and gets voicemail. You paid for that lead. Somebody else got the customer.
The first payment is easy to see. The ad platform charged you for that click and that form on Friday.
The second one is hidden. Your sales target has not changed, so next week you need another lead to fill the gap, and you buy it at the same price. On the report it looks like two leads. In the bank it is one customer you had to pay for twice.
You can price this with your own numbers. Take the leads you get in a month. Count the share that got no reply the same day. Multiply by your close rate, then by what one customer is worth to you.
Here is one real month. On a T-Mobile campaign in May 2026, run via an authorized-dealer partner, via LeadStacker, 72,387 leads came in. Leads went into an automated dialing and routing system. 51,934 calls were placed. 39,009 of 44,555 calls were answered, which is 88%. The close rate was 26.41%, and the month ended at 10,303 sales.
Those leads did not wait for someone to open a spreadsheet on Monday.
You do not need a call center. You need a call or a text that goes out in minutes, at any hour. You need a text back when a call is missed, before the caller rings the next business. And you need a calendar, so the lead can book a time while they still care.
Then test it yourself. Fill in your own form at 9:47 on a Friday night. See what comes back, and when.
Before you buy more leads, fill in your own form on a Friday night and time the reply.
